• Marilyn Johnson, Counselor

As a counselor at Grapevine Middle School, I provide a wide range of services in working with students, parents, teachers and the community.
My primary job as middle school counselor is to help students at Grapevine Middle School find success.
I enjoy helping students develop academic, career, and social aspirations and goals.
During the school year I spend time counseling with students, teachers and parents in my office, provide guidance services to students in classrooms, administer various tests to students, create and maintain the master schedule, enroll new students, confer with teachers and parents to promote the best interests of students and serve as a liaison to outside agencies that also serve the interest of students.
    A little bit about me....
I received an Associate of Arts from Brazosport College, a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics from Stephen F. Austin, and a Masters of Science in Counseling and Development at Texas Woman's University. I am trained in Peer Mediation, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy and Client Centered Play Therapy, Crisis Intervention and Sand Tray Therapy. My experience as an educator includes teaching all academic subjects in both fourth and fifth grades , high school Family and Consumer Sciences and also includes time as a district Career and Technology Education Director. I am beginning my tenth year as a GMS counselor. In my spare time, I enjoy gardening, quilting, counted cross-stitch, cooking, gardening, watching football, and spending time with family and friends.
