Bear Creek Life

  • Saturday, February 21st, was the Mid-Cities Regional Destination Imagination Tournament at Richland High School. Bear Creek Elementary had 6 teams perform in the tournament. Three of our teams were able to compete (they were comprised of 3rd - 5th graders at BCE). One competition team, The Imagineer Engineers lead by Chessa Knight (parent and Learning LIaison at HMS), placed 4th for our elementary division of the Feary Tales Challenge.
Another one of our competition teams, Fearsome Freemans lead by Donna Freeman (4th grade teacher), placed 2nd in the competition for our elementary division of Feary Tales. This second place title also qualified them to attend and compete in the Texas State Destination Imagination Tournament on April 11th in Dallas. The Fearsome Freemans also received the Divinchy Award for Creativity - an award that is given to a select number of teams for outstanding creativity.
We are very proud of all of our teams and wanted to acknowledge these two teams who have worked hard since September to get to this place.

All four middle schools -- Colleyville Middle, Cross Timbers Middle, Grapevine Middle and Heritage Middle -- will be hosting their information nights at the same time on Thursday, just as was planned previously. Thank you to all our parents for your flexibility during this winter weather event, and we look forward to introducing our fifth-graders and their families to middle school on Thursday!

    Lost and Found
Parents as the weather gets cooler students are brining extra clothing, i.e. jackets, hats and gloves which get left behind.  To help with these missing items please write your childs name inside of your students clothing.  This helps us identify who the clothing items belong to and we can return them to the students.  We do have a lost and found location beside the cafeteria to hold unidentified items.  Please have your child check for missing items or you can come and check anytime.  Thank you for your help with this.

     Standard Response Protocol
The district implements security protocols at every school and facility.  We conduct regular safety and security drills to best prepare our students and staff members for potential emergency situations, developed for out district and based on nationally-recognized practices.  The district has implemented a Standard Response Protocol for students and staff across the district.  Protocols are attached and we also have posters around our campus to remind students and staff of these procedures.  While we hope we never need them, it is important for us to have these procedures in place in case a situation does arise.

1:1 Initiative

Welcome to Bear Creek Elementary's 1-to-1 Initiative Information Pages!

Dear Bear Creek Parents,

We are so excited to announce that in the 2014-2105 school year, Bear Creek will become a 1:1 campus!  What this means is that each K-5 student will be issued their own individual iPad.  Students will check their iPad out each morning with their teacher and return it at the end of the day.

In order for us to successfully kick-off this implementation, we are going to need support from all parents.  To help prepare you and your child for success next year, we are asking for you to complete the following 3 steps:

1.     Participate in a parent orientation.  There will be two options for how to do this.  You can attend an orientation meeting at the school that will include a question and answer session (several dates/times will be offered) OR you may watch the presentation online.  If you choose not to attend the Orientation in person, you can watch this presentation at: Here

2.    Parents will be asked to sign an Acceptable Use Policy in person, before a device can be issued to a student. This policy is located in InfoSnap with your child’s beginning of the year registration information.

 Educationally yours,

Brooke Moose
