  • GCISD determining community interest in tuition-based Pre-K

In an effort to continually serve the families of Grapevine-Colleyville ISD, the district is investigating the feasibility of a tuition-based Pre-K program, beginning in the Fall of 2016. Those families who have a child who will be four-years old, on or before September 1, 2016, may participate in the program, depending on community interest.

As with any of the district's special programs, families must enter into a lottery to be selected. If there is enough interest in the tuition-based program, then the lottery will be held for spots at pre-determined campuses. The proposed site locations are Bear Creek Elementary, Bransford Elementary, Colleyville Elementary and OC Taylor Elementary. These campuses were selected based on current and projected student enrollment and building capacity.

Families who are interested in learning more about the tuition-based Pre-K program are invited to attend the GCISD Special Programs Expo on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Cross Timbers Middle School at 6 p.m. At the Expo, district representatives will be available to answer questions about the proposed program. If you would like more information about the proposed tuition-based Pre-K program, click here for a list of frequently asked questions.

  • On Time Every Time

Starting Monday,October 19th, we have started a new campaign for our Bear Creek Scholars- “On Time Every Time” a part of our No Excuses University. On Time Every Time is a student accountability program set up to help teach our scholars about the importance of being on time. This is a reward- based system, and if your scholar is not tardy during a 9-week grading period he/she will earn a Spirit Stick from our PTA!  All Bear Creek scholars will be going home with a Bear Creek spirit stick soon to kick off our campaign.

Help support your scholar by having them to school “On Time Every Time”!

Thank you for your support. Together we are working for the success of our scholars.

    Mrs. Moose

    Principal

**Please remember a tardy is when your student(s) are not seated in their classroom when the bell rings at 7:45! To ensure that they are here and ready to go, try and have your scholar walk through the school doors at 7:30 am!

  • Attendance

GCISD has received notice from the Tarrant County District Attorney that changes have been made regarding truancy laws that will impact students and families. Beginning September 1, 2015, a student failing to attend school is no longer considered a criminal act; however, if the school determines that a child has committed truant conduct, the school may refer to child to truancy court for civil charges and/or file a criminal complaint against the parent. The court defines truant conduct as someone who is required to attend school and fails to attend 10 or more days of school within a six-month period. To read the notice by the Tarrant County District Attorney, click here. If you have any questions about the changes in the law, please contact Marina Flores at 817-251-5325.

  • Lost and Found
Parents as the weather gets cooler students are brining extra clothing, i.e. jackets, hats and gloves which get left behind.  To help with these missing items please write your childs name inside of your students clothing.  This helps us identify who the clothing items belong to and we can return them to the students.  We do have a lost and found location beside the cafeteria to hold unidentified items.  Please have your child check for missing items or you can come and check anytime.  Thank you for your help with this.

  • srp  Standard Response Protocol

The district implements security protocols at every school and facility.  We conduct regular safety and security drills to best prepare our students and staff members for potential emergency situations, developed for out district and based on nationally-recognized practices.  The district has implemented a Standard Response Protocol for students and staff across the district.  Protocols are attached and we also have posters around our campus to remind students and staff of these procedures.  While we hope we never need them, it is important for us to have these procedures in place in case a situation does arise.
