  • Early Morning Reading Club Takes Off!

A large number of students have been taking advantage of an early morning opportunity to get some of their independent reading done each day. Students who arrive at school before the 7:35 bell are asked to report to the cafeteria. Mrs. Phelps has created a spot on stage for students to read silently and the group has grown so much that they now cover the stage steps. They have been officially named the   BEST EARLY MORNING READERS. Not only does this group help students add a few more minutes to their reading logs – it is also helping our morning traffic flow a students request early drop off so that they can “join the club”. The BEST EARLY MORNING READERS are going to start tracking their minutes and see if we can increase the total minutes read each month throughput the year. Students mayr ead anything they wish but are encouraged to follow the AR and GCISD 25 book challenge suggestions regarding  their book selections.  Please encourage your student to “join the club.”

  • Snuggle Up and Read
As you walked the halls of Bransford Elementary you could see children and their parents relaxing in their pajamas and enjoying a good book.  Every once in a while you would hear a chuckle as a student came to an amusing part in their story.  Children could be seen bustling the hallways and moving from room to room to listen to the animated stories the CHHS Theatre Department were there to share.  Teachers pushed carts of milk and cookies up and down the halls for all to enjoy.  The sounds and movement through the halls were a delightful reminder of the joy that can be found in a good book.  The annual event was enjoyed by all and many students are looking forward to next year!

  •  Midway Games
4th grade just finished designing and creating their very own midway games! After reading to learn about the Texas State Fair, students designed their own midway game and built a working model to share with their class. Students applied critical thinking and problem solving skills to build a game that would work and be enjoyable for others to play. Wow! What creative games we were able to enjoy! Here is a sample of the games that students in Mrs.Chapman's fourth grade class created!
