A Little Bit About Me as a Teacher:
This is my 11th year of teaching and my 5th year at Dove! I have taught 1st, 2nd and 6th grade. Some of you may remember me from when I was a Reading Specialist here a few years back. When I made the decision to go back into the classroom and teach, I was incredibly lucky to get to stay here and teach 2nd grade! I feel very blessed each and every day. Dove is a GREAT place to be!
I graduated with my undergraduate degree in Education from Hardin-Simmons University and my Master's degree in Reading from the University of Central Oklahoma. I am also Reading Recovery and ESL certified. I believe, as a teacher, it is my responsibility to always be learning and continuing my education. Plus, secretly...I LOVE being a student and learning!
A Little Bit About Me Outside of School:
I love spending time with my family! I have an amazing husband of 11 years! We met while studying abroad in Europe and realized we were from the same university. What a small world! We have the most amazing 6 year old daughter, Sofie. She is a kindergartner at Dove this year and loving every minute of it! She is truly the light of our lives. We have a miniature poodle, T-Bone, who is the sweetest little dog ever!
I also love spending time with my dear friends! I am addicted to hot yoga! I know, sounds crazy! I love working out, reading great books, playing and listening to music, Candy Crush, Pinterest, Teachers Pay Teachers website, and shopping!
A Little Bit About My Philosophy:
Every single child will learn something new each day! I love finding just what special way they learn best and teaching them how to become independent thinkers and learners. I am a supporter of differentiated learning and feel that every child deserves to feel successful and be challenged in my classroom! My job is to create as many options and avenues for them to achieve this feeling. I think of these students as my babies and I want to help them grow and love learning! I know we will all have a fantastic year together!
