About the Teacher:
What year did you come to GES?  2001
How long have you worked in education? 15 years
Where did you get your degree?  Texas Tech University
My husband, Darrell and I live here in Grapevine with our daughters, Emily who is starting 7th grade this year and Mackenzie who is starting 3rd  grade. I grew up in the small West Texas town of Tahoka. I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Texas Tech University. Upon graduation, I returned to Tech to complete requirements for my teacher certification. My family and I moved to Grapevine in 2001 so that my husband could begin his career here in the DFW area. I am beginning my 16th year of teaching with 12 of those years being here at GES. I believe that as long as you and I work together, your child will be a happy, confident, and successful kindergartner. I am looking forward to working with your child this year and helping him/her to reach his/her full potential. One phrase that you will hear in my room is, “we have to grow big fat juicy brains”. I believe that our kindergarten program produces many “big fat juicy brains” because we take a hands-on approach to learning. We use manipulatives to solve problems and are rarely sitting still for too long. I look forward to seeing you in our classroom throughout the year. We love to see visitors! There will be many opportunities for you to participate in activities with your child. I encourage you to be involved. Your support of school activities sends the message that you value school. One reason our program is so successful is our volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering in our room, please get in touch with me. There is always something to do. Again, I am looking forward to working closely with you and your child this year. Please feel free to contact me if you ever have any questions!
