  • 2016 Texas Honor Roll

     

    Seven GCISD campuses have been named to the 2016 Texas Honor Roll presented by Educational Results Partnership and the Institute for Productivity in Education: Glenhope Elementary, Heritage Elementary, O.C. Taylor Elementary, Colleyville Middle School, Cross Timbers Middle School, Heritage Middle School and iUniversity Prep.

     

    “We are so proud to have seven campuses recognized by education and business leaders in Texas as Honor Roll campuses,” said GCISD Superintendent Dr. Robin Ryan. “In GCISD our mission is to be the BEST, which we define as Building Excellent Schools Together. This includes tireless dedication from our staff, involvement from our parents, community and of course local businesses. Through working together, we are able to provide a world-class education for the students in Grapevine-Colleyville ISD.”

     

    The Honor Roll is part of a national effort to identify higher-performing schools and highlight successful practices that improve outcomes for students. School districts receiving this distinction have demonstrated consistent high levels of student academic achievement, improvement in achievement levels over time and reduction in achievement gaps among student populations. For school districts with high schools, the Honor Roll recognition also includes measures of college readiness. This year, 727 schools were recognized in the State of Texas.



    Educational Results Partnership and the Institute for Productivity in Education

     

    Educational Results Partnership (ERP) and the Institute for Productivity in Education (IPE) partner with leaders in the business community in a shared mission: to ensure all students are prepared to succeed in college and career. Together, we work to improve educational productivity at all levels, K through Job. We draw upon the nation’s largest database on student achievement to uncover successful schools, particularly in economically disadvantaged districts, and promote their best practices to schools that want to do better. Since 2016, the Honor Roll has focused business and academic leaders around a common agenda for high performing public schools leading to increased college success and economic productivity.

  • Please join us for the annual O.C. Taylor Spaghetti Dinner Thursday, March 30th from 6:30 - 8:30 pm. Dinner will be served after a general PTA meeting and spring choir performance. Dinner is being catered by Bellisimo's. Reservations are required.

    The 5th Grade Continuation Committe is sponsoring this year's Cupcake Walkto raise money for Continuation activities. Also, 5th Grade students will be bussing tables for tips, so don't forget your cash or your checkbook!

    Reservations are due by Wednesday, March 23rd.

Watch D.O.G.S.

  • The Watch D.O.G.S program is the father involvement initiative of the National Center for Fathering.  The goal of the program is to help every school in America be positively influenced by the committed involvement of fathers and father figures in the lives of their children and students.  The volunteers perform a variety of tasks during their volunteer day, including monitoring the school entrance, assisting with unloading and loading of buses and cars, monitoring the lunch room, and helping in the classroom by working with small groups of students on various tasks.     Steps in becoming a Watch D.O.G. at O.C. Taylor
    1. Complete online background check (takes about 2 weeks).
    2. Purchase an official Watch D.O.G. tshirt.
    3. Complete the Watch D.O.G. registration form and scan/email/fax OR turn into Jenn Howard.
    4. Once you have your tshirt, and confirm your background check has been approved, email Jenn Howard at jennifer.howard@gcisd.net to sign up for a day on the calendar.
