    Lisa Young At the July 11 Special Board of Trustees meeting, Trustees approved Lisa Young as the new principal of O.C. Taylor Elementary School. Young is currently serving as a principal at Rockenbaugh Elementary School in Carroll ISD.
     
    “I am honored to have been selected as the principal for O.C. Taylor,” said Young. “O.C. Taylor has rich traditions steeped in continuous improvement, innovation and the development of the whole child. I look forward to continuing these efforts with a focus on building solid relationships with teachers, parents, students, and the community. I can't wait to meet all of those Tigers!”
     
    Before serving as principal at Rockenbaugh Elementary School, Young was the coordinator for 21st century learning and professional development in Carroll ISD from 2009-2012. She also spent a year in Carroll ISD as a curriculum coordinator. From 1994-2008 she served in various roles including an assistant principal in Coppell ISD, vice president for SALT productions where she wrote curriculum and designed training materials and programs, and as an independent consultant for the Region X Education Service Center in Dallas.
     
    Young graduated with her bachelor’s degree in education from Baylor University, master’s degree in educational administration from the University of North Texas and has completed the superintendent certification program at the University of North Texas.
     
    “We are excited to welcome Lisa Young as the next leader of O.C. Taylor Elementary School,” said Dr. Robin Ryan, GCISD Superintendent. “Her strengths include leading schools toward 21st century learning and making engaging learning experiences for all students. This aligns with the work that we strive to do in GCISD under our strategic plan, LEAD 2021, and I look forward to Lisa's leadership as she continues to strengthen learning opportunities for students.”
     
    Young will begin her new role on July 20.

Watch D.O.G.S.

  • The Watch D.O.G.S program is the father involvement initiative of the National Center for Fathering.  The goal of the program is to help every school in America be positively influenced by the committed involvement of fathers and father figures in the lives of their children and students.  The volunteers perform a variety of tasks during their volunteer day, including monitoring the school entrance, assisting with unloading and loading of buses and cars, monitoring the lunch room, and helping in the classroom by working with small groups of students on various tasks.   • Forget Me Not Table
    A "Forget Me Not" table is located in the front foyer. If your child forgets his or her lunch, homework, shoes, etc., please put them on this table and label them with their name on a post it note. We will not call the child's teacher to let them know that you have dropped off an item. It is your child's responsibility to go check this table for forgotten items.

  • Backpacks Needed

    New backpacks are needed for more than 1,300 pre-qualified students at GCISD's 5th Annual Back-to-School Fair on August 6. Backpacks for grades K-4th must fit a regular-sized iPad. Backpacks for grades 5th-12th must be able to hold laptops. We appreciate your support!

     

    Donations will be accepted at the GCISD administration building, 3051 Ira E. Woods Ave, Grapevine, Monday-Thursday, between 7:30 a.m. and 5:15 p.m.
