     special olympics bowling

Our O.C. Taylor students took part in the Special Olympics Area 11 bowling competition in Fort Worth, earning top titles. Out of the 79 GCISD bowlers participating in the competition, 18 earned a first place title, 18 finished in second place and 14 in third place. High scores in the group include a 122 (girls) and a 103 (boys).

“Over the four days our students bowled against some tough competition,” said Gabi Kanterman, adapted physical education teacher. “All of our athletes bowled very well, many of them achieving personal best scores. I could not ask for anything more from them than the best they showed me they could be this past week.”

Watch D.O.G.S.

  • The Watch D.O.G.S program is the father involvement initiative of the National Center for Fathering.  The goal of the program is to help every school in America be positively influenced by the committed involvement of fathers and father figures in the lives of their children and students.  The volunteers perform a variety of tasks during their volunteer day, including monitoring the school entrance, assisting with unloading and loading of buses and cars, monitoring the lunch room, and helping in the classroom by working with small groups of students on various tasks. (http://www.fathers.com/watchdogs)
