  • Mascot
    Wow!  We had an overwhelming interest for mascot try-outs this year.  Thank you to all 15 students who showed an interest; it takes courage to try out for a role, and we are so proud of all the kids! The judges were very impressed by the school spirit, enthusiasm and creativity displayed and said everyone did a great job!  

    We would like to congratulate Evelyn Griffith, Hayden Gainer, Kyra Rinon and Sarah Henderson as our 2014-2015

    A new "Forget Me Not" table is located in the front foyer.  
    If your child forgets his or her lunch, homework, shoes, etc.,
    please put them on this table and label them with their name on a post it note.
     It is your child's responsibility to go check this table for forgotten items.

  • Earth Week  

    On April 22 over one BILLION people around the world will celebrate Earth Day - the largest non-religious holiday on the planet!


    Earth Day International has already collected over one billion pledges for Acts of Green.  O.C. Taylor students have contributed their own earth pledges, which form the trees in our display case this month, to this global goal.


    Wednesday, April 22:  Earth Day!

    • Kick off Earth Week by kicking off your unwanted shoes!  Bins for collecting shoes will be in the OCT lobby from April 22 - May 1.
    • Show your Earth Day spirit by WEARING BLUE to school tomorrow!

    Thursday, April 23:  O.C. Taylor is Going Green and taking the No Trash Lunch Challenge!


    • Show your commitment to being "green" by WEARING your favorite GREEN shirt to school today!
    • Bring your lunch in all reusable containers today...and remember a refillable container for your drink and snack too! 

    Friday, April 24:  Tip Your Hat to Recycling & Walk to School!

    • Craft a hat made entirely of recyclable materials found at home and wear it to school today!
    • Show off your creation while we cut our carbon emissions and Walk to School!  Volunteers will be present at the Compass Center parking lot and the Colleyville Senior Center to walk with students as a group.  Groups depart from these areas at 7:25.

    *The Rachel's Challenge Stronger as a Team Rally is ongoing throughout the school year and is sponsored by the GCISD Education Foundation. A celebration of the many acts of student kindness and compassion that have been. 


    *The fun run/walk will allow community members to participate with students, teachers, administrators, and parents in a district-wide event that celebrates kindness and compassion and also will help raise funds for our GCISD Rachel's Challenge program.


    *Our Stronger as a Team Community Expo is a new addition to the rally lineup this year. GCISD, in partnership with the GCISD Education Foundation, GCISD Council of PTAs, and the GCISD Diversity Advisory Council, is coordinating this event to encourage inclusiveness, teamwork, diversity appreciation and awareness, and the mind/body connection.
