Glenhope Life

  • This week will begin our annual Greenback campaign, which is an opportunity for parents to contribute to our school.  We began Greenback night in 2001 at the request of parents who did NOT want their children to participate in typical fundraising efforts.  Over the years, we have collected an average of $10,000 each year, which allows us to purchase additional resources for our teachers and students.   Here is a link to the list of  Greenback purchases we made with our Greenback donations in 2014-15.
This year, our first Greenback purchase will be 2 Hoki stools for each classroom.  These are stools that have rounded bottoms and require students to use core trunk muscles to sit correctly.  They are fun for all students, but particularly helpful for students who may have difficulty attending or staying on task.  Our ASPIRE classrooms were outfitted with Hoki stools in the spring, and they were such a hit with students that we decided to try and add them to all of our classrooms.  Each stool is about $100 dollars, so to buy just 2 for all the other classrooms will be $4600.
We don't ask for a specific amount from parents.  We just ask that you consider the value of not having to do any fundraising through the year with your student, as well as the joy of providing additional materials to our school.  Our 4th grade does do a fundraiser for their SkyRanch trip, and we do provide an opportunity for school pictures and t-shirts that help with our activity fund.  We do not do any other fundraising requests from the school once we finish our Greenback campaign around the first of September. Because we are public school, your gifts should qualify as a charitable contribution, but please consult your tax advisor.  We hope you will join us Thursday evening to "ring the bell!"

8/28 Update:  Our total at this point is $4005...a great start to our Greenback campaign!
