Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Amy Dieterich
This is my eighteenth year in education and my fifth year as a CTMS Wolf. I am a graduate of Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas and have attended the Pre-AP Studies Institute at Texas Christian University. In addition to History, I hold teacher certifications in Language Arts/Reading, Math, Gifted and Talented, and ESL. I am an alumni of VALOR in GCISD, which has allowed to connect with other growth minded teachers, and has greatly impacted the way I teach and learn. I sponsor Student Council at CTMS and I help facilitate the Geography Bee.
This summer I read: The Happiness Advantage, A More Beautiful Question, and I continued my study of Gifted and Talented Learners in a seminar with other GCISD teachers. One of my goals this year is to emphasize the importance of all students having a voice and ownership in their learning, and to continue to build a culture in our classroom of students who feel empowered to challenge and question concepts and understand multiple perspectives in history. We emphasize the "Why" and the "How" as we study Texas History, and are constantly looking for connections to the present and our own unique culture and history.
I have 3 children, and as a family we enjoy spending time at the lake or the beach, watching Aggie Football (Whoop!), and playing sports together or watching each other participate in sports and activities (swim team, cheer, tennis, band and football). I have one child who attends Cross Timbers.
Please take a look at the Google Classroom section, and the syllabus of your class for important information.
