When I first visited downtown Grapevine in October of 2009, I fell in love with the town and had my first thoughts of leaving North Georgia.  It took a year and half, but in June 2011 we packed up the house and said our goodbyes to the home our family had lived in for ten years.
In October 2013, I was grateful to join the staff at Grapevine Middle School and got my first taste of GCISD. The following school year, I was fortunate to be able to transition to Heritage Middle School where both of my children will attend middle school.  I am excited to be a part of such a great instructional team!  It is my goal as the Learning Liaison to assist teachers in designing instruction that meets the high standards of GCISD and provides for the learning needs of our diverse student population.
I graduated from the University of Georgia in 2001 with a B.S. in Science Education.  After my first day in the classroom, I knew I needed a few more tools to be able to reach all the learners in my seventh grade science class.  I returned to the University of Georgia for my Masters in Middle School Education and a few more classes in reading instruction!
After four years in the science classroom, I accepted a part time teacher collaborator position which allowed me to continue working with middle school students, be a part of the leadership team at the school, and be home more with my two children.  The part time slowly began to grow back to full time work as I began working with the school's data to create intervention groups and identify the programs that best met student needs.
When it became time for my daughter to start Pre-K, I realized I wanted to work closer to the school that she would be attending school.  In 2008, I left my beloved first school and began teaching at the local school system.  It was nice to have a seven mile commute instead of the thirty-five miles I had been driving.  At my new school, I was given the task of developing and implementing a Pre-AP program for the high achieving students at the middle school in addition to working with students in need of interventions in math and reading.
Today, I am thankful for and greatly admire the teachers that my children have had over the years and I am excited to be a part of the BEST school district!

During the summer of 2016, my family grew by four!  We celebrated a beautiful July wedding at sunrise on the beach.
