    Julia May, Art Teacher

    Conference: 7:45 - 8:45
My teaching career began in 1989 when I was hired by H.E.B. I.S.D. after graduating from the Univ. of North Texas with a BFA in Art Education. I taught at Harrison Lane Elementary until 1999, when I resigned in order to stay home with my second child. During this time, I was able to give private lessons and do some freelance work painting "movable murals."

After a few years, I was ready to go back into the classroom and was subsequently hired by GCISD. This is my 17th year in the district. After splitting time between Dove and Glenhope for 14 years, I am happy to be at Glenhope full time. I have so much more quality time with the kids. I am happy to be a part of a school "family" all year!

Outside of school, my husband and I stay busy with two children who are growing up too quickly! Our daughter, Jordan graduated from the University of Arkansas in December with a double major in psychology and art.  She is headed to grad school in Santa Fe, N.M in pursuit of an art therapy degree.  Cooper graduated from GHS this year and will attend the Univ. of Texas at Austin at the McCombs School of Business.

I look forward to another great year at Glenhope. We have so many talented kiddos here. I feel very fortunate to be able to work with each of them and to watch them learn and grow. I love my job and I love bringing out the creativeness in your children!
