•  Riggs

My name is Audrey Riggs, and I serve GCISD staff and students as a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP) and have since 2005.  GCISD is my 3rd district, since becoming an LSSP in 1996, and it is by far the BEST!  I was previously in the Houston area and east Texas (behind the Pine Curtain).

My position serves students and staff in general education as well as special education classes.  I provide consultation to staff and parents regarding behavioral issues, as designated by the Academic Support Committees (ASCs) and ARD committees.  I also conduct observations and evaluations with respect to a student's eligibility and programming for special education services for conditions of emotional disturbance, autism and ADHD.  I conduct functional behavior assessments (FBAs) and help lead CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) training for the district.  Lastly, I also provide direct services in the form of counseling and/or social skills instruction to students based on their Special Services programming (per ARD).   Working closely with parents, campus administrators, diagnostician, speech pathologist, campus counselors and teachers, I help coordinate efforts and interventions for our students.  My professional emphasis has always been on communication - between staff, between students and staff, and with parents.  I believe that accurate non-anxious communication is the single biggest support I can provide to proactively serve our staff, students and their families.
