     Teaching Biography
This school year marks my sixth as a full-time educator. I spent my first three years in Irving ISD and made my way to GCISD two years ago teaching ELA electives, Texas History, and coaching Boys' Athletics. I found the Home of the Wolf last year and don't plan on my "home" changing for a long time.
Parents and students in my classes can expect to utilize technology on a daily basis, so bring those laptops charged and some earbuds or headphones along too.

    Other Background Information
Before teaching, I earned a Bachelor's of Science degree in Social Studies Education from the University of Georgia. I already loved following sports before attending college (especially the currently atrocious Atlanta Braves), but - while studying at UGA - the Bulldogs quickly became my favorite football team. After college, I interned at the University of Georgia's Wesley Foundation; worked as a summer camp counselor for high school students at Sky Ranch in Van, Texas; and promptly changed residency to Texas in order to pursue the love of my life, Morgan Calvert (now Laney).

    Personal Information
Morgan and I have been married since November 2013. She became a teacher after graduating from Texas A&M University, began her career in Irving as well, and is joining the GCISD ranks this year as Grapevine Middle School's ELA teacher for the STEM program. Together, we spend most of our free time as volunteer leaders for Young Life, an organization that allows us to have all kinds of fun with high school-aged friends in the Grapevine-Colleyville community. Morgan also sponsors the Grapevine High JV Cheer team, and I sponsor GHS's Spirit Rustlers. On the home front, we have three dogs whom we lovingly call our "children" for now: a blonde Goldendoodle named Teddy, a black Goldendoodle named George, and a black Yorkshire Terrier named Lincoln.
