My name is Christopher Hughes, and I’ll be your Pre-AP English 2 instructor for the 2017-18 school year. This will be my ninth year as an instructor of English Composition and Literature, and I’m excited to be a part of such a unique program as Collegiate Academy. Here’s a little about me:
I hold a B.A. in English from Texas State University, in San Marcos, and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from The New School, in New York City, where I studied poetry and fiction. I have been fortunate to work with some amazing writers and professors over the years. Through my experience as a student, I came to understand the importance of a teacher’s role in providing guidance and promoting intellectual curiosity. Upon graduation, I began teaching English Composition and British Literature at Tarrant County College. During my four-year tenure, I taught classes at the northwest campus, as well as dual-credit English courses at Fossil Ridge High School, in Keller ISD. There, I discovered I had a passion for working with high school students, and in 2013, I made the switch from college to public education, working in the Irving and Dallas independent school districts, respectively, before coming to Collegiate Academy.
In my free time, I keep a pretty active lifestyle. I love lifting weights, running outdoors, baseball, tennis, and yoga. I’m also a big music fan, which has lead me towards educating others on audio engineering, production and songwriting. I’ve got a younger brother and sister, a niece named Hadlee Jane, and a huge, cranky cat named George.
I’m excited to meet all of you, and to get down to business. It’s going to be a great year!Christopher HughesPre-AP English II / Beats ClubEmail: firstname.lastname@example.orgPhone: 817-515-6798Conference: Monday/Wednesday - 2:00-3:20 and Tuesday/Thursday - 12:30-1:50
