This is my second year with the ASPIRE Academy at Glenhope Elementary School, and my 15th year teaching. I shall be returning to second grade this year. I have a Bachelor of Science degree from California Polytechnic University and a Master's Degree from Pepperdine University in Educational Leadership. I hold a California teaching credential, as well as a California Gifted and Talented Certificate. In early 2016, I earned my Texas teaching credential, ESL supplemental, and GT supplemental for the Great State of Texas.
My love for gifted education began in 2003 when I was trained on different gifted teaching strategies by Dr. Sandra Kaplan from USC. The years following I became adept at teaching gifted students and eventually trained all of the GT teachers of my district on how to teach the gifted. I also trained all beginning teachers in a consortium of four districts on gifted and talented strategies, with a specialty in Depth and Complexity, for six years. I am very excited to continue this chapter of my career by working with gifted children in the ASPIRE Academy.
I have recently moved to Southlake from Huntington Beach, California. We chose a better quality of life for our family with this big move and we love being in Texas. When I am not driving my children, Abigail (14) and Thomas (10), to various sporting events, you can find me watching baseball or football with my husband of 22 years, crafting in my craft room, or with my nose in a book. I feel blessed to be a part of Glenhope and GCISD and look forward to engaging little learners.
