Mr. Nidever earned his BM in Vocal Performance with a minor in Secondary Education from Sam Houston State University and his Master of Music in Choral Conducting at Louisiana State University. He has also completed additional post-graduate work from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ and will soon complete his Kodaly Certification from Portland State University. During his time in Louisiana, Joe also assisted with the Livingston Parish Youth Choir in Denham Springs.

Previous to working at Grapevine Middle School, Mr. Nidever taught for 3 years in Lovejoy ISD as the Assistant Choir Director at Willow Springs Middle School. He also taught 5th grade General Music and was a Director of Lovejoy Childrens Chorus, the district elementary honor choir.

Prior to teaching, Joe served for 4 years as the Music Director at both St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Houston, and St. Alban's Episcopal Chapel in Baton Rouge, LA. He directed annual concerts with choir and orchestra, worked with the adult and children's choirs, and planned weekly services.

Additionally, Joe also currently serves as the Associate Music Director at Christ United Methodist Church in Plano, where he directs the Living Proof Youth Choir of approximately 110 unique members, which travels each summer to sing around the nation. (Last summer we went to the Grand Canyon with the High School and Hot Springs, AR with the Middle School.) He also serves as the assistant director of the adult Sanctuary Choir.

Mr. Nidever married the love of his life 2 years ago, Jillian Nidever. She is the Choir Teacher at Carroll MS in Carroll ISD. We are loving life and grateful that we both get to do what we love for a profession!

We have a sweet little girl that loves My Little Pony just a little too much, and singing with us in the car. She will be going into 1st grade this year. We also have a wicked cute corgi named Gus.

I am excited to be a member of the GCISD Choir Team and to serve as the Choir Director at Grapevine Middle School. This will be an exciting year with wonderful trips and opportunities for everyone. I can't wait!
