• National Honor Society (NHS)

    Who can join NHS?
Membership in the National Honor Society at CHHS is both a privilege and a recognition of high achievement in academics, leadership, character, and service. The Castle Chapter is open to students entering their senior year. Previous membership in the National Junior Honor Society is not required. Students with a minimum of a 4.2 grade point average and who are not currently members of NHS will be invited to apply.

    When can I apply?
Application letters will be sent to those students that meet the GPA requirement.  There are two windows open for the application process. The first window is February of the student's junior year. The second window is September of the student's senior year. Most students apply their junior year. If not accepted in the first application cycle, a student may reapply in the second.

    How do I apply?
Once you receive your letter, you can print off application form and turn in to the NHS Sponsor, Madison Gravens, Room B202

    What are the requirements?
In order to apply for membership, the student must have at least a 4.2-grade point average and at least 10 verifiable community service hours during the previous twelve months. In addition, the student must demonstrate exemplary character and leadership by both teacher and administrative recommendations. After students submit their applications by the appropriate deadlines, a five-member Faculty Council conducts a blind review and votes to accept or deny the application. Students are then notified of their membership status. Decisions of the Faculty Council are final. Students applying in September of their senior year are notified of their status in time to complete early decision applications for college. New members are recognized in a formal induction ceremony (held in April for spring inductees and September for fall inductees). New officers are elected in May for the following year.

Members must complete 25 community service hours, maintain their grade point average, maintain standards of character and leadership, and attend scheduled meetings in order to be recognized at graduation with the NHS honor stole.

             2. Sign up to receive Remind messages by texting @nhschhs17 to 81010

    Dues
Each NHS member must pay the $25 dues.  Some of you may have already brought your money to Ms. Gravens.  All dues must be turned in to Ms. Gravens, Room B202 by Friday April 28th. What do my dues cover? With your dues you get an NHS T-shirt and the opportunity for a $500 scholarship. We will offer 2-$500 scholarships at the end of the year through an application process.

I have more questions -- who can I contact?
