Welcome Back!
Welcome to 6th Grade PAP ELA!  My goal is for us to have a successful year.  In order for this to happen. I
have included a list of expectations for the 2012-2013 school year
.
 Helpful Information:
Class Expectations:  There are 5 rules which will help build our class community:
 1.       Bring supplies to class.
2.       Complete homework.
3.       Treat everyone with respect.
4.       Be on-task.
5.       Talk and participate when appropriate.
 Planners:
1. All students must have a planner to record daily assignments.  Planners will be checked daily.
2. Planners will be used as a hall pass.  Students must have a planner to exit the room (restroom, locker…).
 Late Work:
*All students will have the opportunity to hand in late work within the week it is assigned.
* This work will be graded and 20 points will be deducted.
*If a student is absent, late work will be accepted according to district policy.
*Students who have a habit of turning in late work will be assigned Academic Support during Smart Time.
Emergency situations do occur and will be considered in specific situations.

Make-up work:

Make-up work is not considered late work. Students have 48 hours to complete work if they are absent. If the absence is more than one day,
students will have an additional day for each day they were out of class.
 Second Chance Opportunity:
*I want all students to succeed.  If a student performs poorly on an assessment, he/she has the opportunity to
make test corrections and receive a 70 for that exam.
 Dismissal:
The bell does not dismiss the student. I do.  I will dismiss you on time.
 Grading Policy:
40% of the grade will come from homework, class work, daily assignments, quizzes and participation.
60% of the grade will come from tests, projects, C- Notes and other forms of assessments of content mastery.

Grade Reports:

Progress reports are issued every 3 weeks. Report cards are issued every 6 weeks. A returned parent signature is required on both.
Two copies will be sent home. One copy stays home for your records while the other must be signed and returned asap.
You may also track student grades in Skyward.
 Discipline Policy:
*In the event of a serious discipline issue, the student will be sent to the principal’s office and given a referral.
In less serious events, the student will be given a verbal warning and redirected with words.
*If behavior continues to be distracting learning, a parent will be called and a detention will be issued.
Detentions will be served on Monday and Wednesdays from 3:30-4:15.
 Tutorials:
Monday-Friday: 7:15-8:00
Monday-Friday: 3:25-4:15
*Sometimes teachers have other commitments, so please notify me if you will be coming for tutorials.
 Parent/Teacher Contact:
 1. A parent may contact me in two ways-
