The JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) walk of 2013
was a tremendous success!

Our campus raised $13,409 to go toward research for a cure for juvenile diabetes! Wow! Thank you for sponsoring our walkers. Not only did our students enjoy a refreshing walk, they also learned more about juvenile diabetes.

Kindergarten PBL

Driving question: How can we, as CES Kindergarten students, improve the Fort Worth Zoo by either adding an animal or changing an existing animal's enclosure?

Content: Through their study, students learned about living and nonliving things, problem solving, and cooperation strategies.

 Entry event: Fort Worth Zoo

Student research: visiting the Fort Worth Zoo, reading library books, watching short videos, reading zoobooks.com

Product choices: diorama, a model, Pix n Tell

** Before presenting their research to an employee of the Fort Worth Zoo, they practiced presenting in front of each other.

Claymation Creation

Technology in Use
3rd Graders in Mrs. Smith's class experience the Innovator Lab.
Students learn about and test their knowledge of inventors, research and interview an inventor, try their hand at engineering devices in the TinkerBox app and build their own invention they designed while in the Think Tank.

2nd Grade Hoedown
2nd grade students learned several dances and performed them before an audience of visitors, students and teachers.

Experience CES

Parents and students joined together to discover what a learning platform is all about and to experience actual strategies and techniques teachers are applying daily in their classrooms. Teachers partnered up to offer a variety of sessions for primary and intermediate grades. A special thank you to GCISD middle and high school students who volunteered to help with Experience CES.
