![]() World Club will meet the first three Thursdays of every month during Stretch in my room (210). Everyone who is interested in Geography or just learning more about our world is encouraged to come.
![]() Congrats to Tine! As a 7th grader at CMS, Tine won the 2011 National Geographic Bee today at National Geographic headquarters in Washington, D.C. Tine received a $25,000 college scholarship, a lifetime membership in the National Geographic Society, and a trip to the Galapagos Islands!

During the Geography Awareness Week, the World Club created a Geography Survey they developed, issued, and analyzed regarding the student population at CMS. They then worked very hard to create the following presentation of the results which will be posted in the cafeteria at CMS for the entire school to view.
6th grade:
· The average percent correct on the survey was 31.58%.
· The highest score was a perfect score of 100%.
· The percentage of students speaking two languages was 17%, while nobody spoke 3 or
more.
· 38% of students have not visited a country outside of the U.S., while 21% have visited 3 or more countries.
7th Grade
· Overall, the seventh grade answered 42.3 percent of the questions correctly.
· The highest score was 91.66%.
· The percentage of students speaking two languages was 18%, while 5% spoke 3 or more.
· Approximately one-third of seventh-grade students have not been out of the U.S., and about one-fourth have been to 3 or more countries.
8th Grade:
· However, the eighth grade emerged victorious in the struggle for the highest average, achieving 45.4% correct.
· The highest score was 91.66%.
· The percentage of students speaking two languages was 13%, while only one person spoke three languages.
· 40% of students have not visited a country outside of the U.S., and 23% have visited 3 or more countries.
