Dove Dynamic Drummers
Are there tryouts for Drummers?
Yes. Students interested in trying out will sign up to do so the first week of school at one of the several posters in the 4th and 5th grade hallways. Students will be assigned a tryout time, which will be posted in several locations in said hallways. Students will be expected to arrive 5-10 minutes before tryout times and wait silently in the designated locations. Envelopes with results letters will be handed to students the following week.
What are the tryout criteria?
Mainly rhythm and drumming ability. Behavior in all classes, passing grades and teacher evaluations are also a portion of a child's total score.
Who is eligible for Drummers?
DDD is open to any 4th or 5th grade student who remains in good standing. Students must maintain passing averages on progress reports and report cards, maintain quality conduct grades in all classes, maintain quality behavior in DDD/music class, and have good attendance in school and DDD.
How many Drummers are there?
There are 32 positions for Drummers. The top-scoring 32, regardless of grade, will be chosen. Additionally, there are two 4th grade and two 5th grade alternates named to the group. These alternates will learn the shows, show up to all performances and may be asked to step in on a moment's notice.
When are Drummers rehearsals?
DDD rehearsals are Wednesdays from 2:55-3:45. Please pick up your child on time from the driveway at the front of the school.
Are there any additional rehearsal days or days when DDD will last longer?
DDD performs several times throughout the year. For this reason, extra rehearsals are often necessary, especially just before the shows.
When can I order DDD t-shirts?
The order forms for t-shirts is always given to students at rehearsal. The form should be completed and returned with payment on or before the deadline stated on the order form.
Does my child need to buy a DDD t-shirt?
Yes. It is part of our uniform.
My child was absent from school. Can he still come to DDD?
No. Keep your illness at home. This goes for DDD performances as well.
