About the Assistant Principal

It’s hard to believe this is my sixth year at Dove Elementary.  Time flies when you’re at the best school in Texas.  Dove has so much to offer the community.  My job is easier when you have the best teachers, parents, and students that anyone could ask for.

I graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a double degree in Elementary Education and International Business. My graduate degree in Administrative Education is from Texas Woman’s University.  I am originally from Louisiana, where I still have lots of family and love to visit.

My career in education started in Dallas ISD as a third grade teacher.  Then I moved to Irving where I taught third, fourth, and fifth grade.  One of the highlights of my teaching days was I was able to loop with the same group of students from third, fourth, and fifth grade.  My favorite subject to teach was reading.  I loved exposing students to the wonderful stories that literature can offer.

My husband is originally from Peru and he currently teaches a fourth grade bilingual class.  Our daughter is Audrey and she just turned three.  I feel we are now learning what the phrase, “thrilling three's” really means!

I love being in education.  The hustle, bustle, and the excitement is fun!  There’s nothing more exciting than seeing kids come back from a holiday and being excited to jump back into learning.  I often miss the classroom, especially the relationships that you as a teacher develop with students.  I hope as an assistant principal I provide the support that parents, teachers, and students need to make the school a safer and better place to learn.
