KINDERGARTEN & FIRST -  Students are working through musical concepts using John Feirerabend's First Steps to Musicianship.

SECOND - Students are being prepared and presented to half notes using folk songs, music games, and rhythm-reading activities.

THIRD - Students are being prepared and presented to sixteenth notes using folk songs, music games, and rhythm-reading activities. They are also developing their reccorder skills on pitches BAG.

FOURTH -  Students are being prepared and presented to eighth/sixteenth note combinations using folk songs, music games, and rhythm-reading activities.

They are also working on developing their recorder skills. Weekly, the students are given independent practice time to progress through the music-reading levels. Once they feel accomplished on a level, they test for the teacher and receive a badge for that level. They are then free to advance to the next level. The minimum requirement is 2 levels per 9 week period, but many students progress much further in their music-reading skills.

FIFTH -  Students are being prepared and presented to eighth/quarter/eighth combinations using folk songs, music games, and rhythm-reading activities.

They are also working on mastering their music TEKS through student-created projects. Weekly, the students are given independent time to complete a project from our 18 project options. Once they feel accomplished on a project, they present it to teacher and receive credit for mastery of that project. They are then free to advance to their next project. The minimum requirement is 3 projects per 9 week period, but many students progress much further in their mastery of the music TEKS.
