Biology Current Event

Extra Credit


Students may turn in one current event per six weeks!
 

Sources:

*Daily newspapers (no tabloids)

*Science or news magazines

*Television Program (At least ½ hour or more)

*Internet Articles (Must be complete articles from magazines or newspapers, not summaries of these articles)

 

 

Requirements:

*Can turn in 1 report for each six weeks to earn up to 25 points of extra credit on a daily grade or 5 points on a test grade
*Must follow correct format to receive full points

*Read entire article or watch entire show

*Write neatly in ink or type a report

*Information must be current!  (newspaper articles and TV shows no more than three months old) (magazine articles no more than a year old)

*News or research in an area of Biology (medical news, ecology, genetics, cell biology, evolution, animals, plants, ect.)

 

Format:

 

“Name of article/Show” (in quotation marks)

Name of newspaper, magazine, or TV station (underlined)

 

          In paragraph form, briefly summarize (not more than three sentences) the main idea of the article.  In an additional sentence explain how the article relates to biology.

 

          In a second paragraph, explain why the article is important and give your opinion of the article.  This may either be an opinion of the way it is written or an opinion of the information.

 

Using complete sentences, list from 5-10 statements of biological information discussed from your source.
