Career background: Although I have experience in academic university libraries and special collections, I began my career in public schools as an elementary school librarian in 2004. After two years in Tulsa, Oklahoma, I moved to Brooklyn, New York to work as a middle school librarian from 2006-2011.
The journey to CES: My husband and I decided it was time to settle in a place where our daughter (Ollie) could enjoy being close to her extended family and breathing fresh air. So, we are putting down roots in Texas and planning to stay for many years to come. The CES community has made me feel right at home and I look forward to providing a welcoming and effective library program for you. I am simply thrilled to be here at Colleyville Elementary!
Philosophy of school librarianship: First and foremost, the library media center should be inviting so that students will want to investigate what is inside. It is my goal to increase the quality and quantity of library books and digital resources, but the library is more than a warehouse for books and information. It is a place where students can explore their individual interests, solve problems and become independent, lifelong learners. As the library media specialist at CES, I will facilitate and guide students through the research process, present new books and digital information, and provide instructional support to teachers.
