Dear Parents,

Welcome to the 2011-12 school year!  This is a time for new teachers, new classes, new routines, and new changes in State and Local Science curriculum.  Unfortunately, these changes did not come with a new textbook adoption.  Consequently, we are asking for your cooperation and patience as we work to find the best solution to fit the textbook needs of all students.

As you discovered at registration, we currently do not have a grade level textbook that includes all of the material covered in the new State curriculum and we do not have enough books to issue multiple books to each student.  However, there is access to the online version of these textbooks.  I have given you class codes for the sixth, seventh, and eighth grade textbooks to provide a greater reference source for your student.

Please take a moment to log into the following website with your student to review the textbook.

As you review the online textbook, please keep these points in mind:

  • It has been indicated that future textbook adoptions could possibly be “paperless” with online versions of the textbook only.
  • Students do have access to a class set of textbooks in the classroom.
  • Stampede tutorial time (in Room 406) will provide a quiet place to use the class set of books.

  • At home, printing the pages or areas of the book could be done as needed.
