Message from the Director

  • Nutrition Services is well into the planning for the 2017-2018 school year. Staff development days for August are set and we encourage you to check out the calendar below to see where you are going and what you are doing for the new school year.

A letter with a schedule explaining everything you ever wanted to know about training and preparations for school was mailed in July.

We are very excited to kick off the 2017-2018 school year with our calendar menu Let's Do Lunch! We have many new menu items that we know our students will be anxious to try! Be sure to congratulate Cathy Clayton, Manager at Heritage Elementary, for being honored as our Nutrition Services Employee of the Year! Also, we have worked diligently over the summer to prepare for the return of our students and staff, in doing so we have several new team members. So, please make sure to welcome all of our new employees to the team. We sincerely hope you had a wonderful, happy and safe summer with your family. We look forward to seeing all of you in the fall for the new school year.

    Best Regards,
    Julie

Message from your Dietitian

  • Welcome to the 2017-2018 School Year!
Texas and our neighbors (Louisiana, New Mexico and Oklahoma) produce a wealth of agriculture so we thought we'd show it off! In the upcoming school year we will feature Farm Fresh Friday's showcasing a different regionally sourced fruit or vegetable each month. These efforts to source regional produce helps to support our local agriculture market and poses a great learning opportunity for our students. 4 times throughout the year we will also introduce a special event called "Throwback Thursday" featuring popular entrees from menus over the past 10 years. Students will have the opportunity to try items like Chicken Fried Steak, Grand-E-Oli Ravioli, Chicken Giggles and a Fiestada. New to the 2017-2018 school year, the first 2 weeks of school will consist of a simplified lunch menu to help ensure everyone has an exemplary start to the school year. As always, we look forward to serving you in the upcoming school year and for many more to come!

    2017-2018 New Menu Entrees:

     Beef Bean and Cheese Burrito
    Alfredo Pasta
    Chicken Pot Pie
Crispy Chicken Sandwich-featuring a filet made with whole muscle white meat
Chicken Nuggets and a Honey Butter Biscuit
    Cheese Bites & Marinara
    Turkey & Cheese Pretzel Sandwich
    Chicken Bacon Ranch Pizza
    Mexican Pizza
    Chicken Parmesan
Chicken Tenders made with whole muscle white meat
