With 18 years experience in education, all in Texas, Tovar has served in the roles of principal and assistant principal at both middle and high schools in the Dallas, Richardson and Midlothian school districts. As principal of DISD’s Longfellow Academy, where she has served since 2008, Tovar led instructional efforts that increased the campus rating from Recognized to Exemplary while simultaneously focusing on increasing rates of commended performance for all students. For her leadership both in and out of the classroom, Tovar was honored as a “Master Principal” based on student academic performance, appraisal and overall campus climate.
