I grew up in Muncie, Indiana, but got to Texas just as fast as I could. After graduating from Ball State University with degrees in Early Childhood and Elementary Education, I quickly obtained my Texas teaching certificate and began my teaching career in Wichita Falls ISD.
This is my 20th year teaching. Sixteen of those years have been right here at GES. I first came to GES in 1997 and taught Kindergarten until 2008. Then, I transitioned into a reduced teaching schedule so that I could stay at home while my sons were in preschool. During that time, I tutored students at GES and Bear Creek Elementary in grades 3, 4, & 5 in preparation for the TAKS test. In 2012, I returned to GES full time and taught second grade for 5 years. For 23 years, I have gladly served the students of Texas! Teaching has always been my heart’s desire. I was so fortunate to get to be at home when my boys were young; those years are a time that I will always treasure. But, I feel so lucky and grateful to be a part of the GES community.
My husband, Bill, and I have been married for 20 years and moved to Grapevine due to a job change. We immediately fell in love with the city’s celebrations and family friendliness. Our boys, Reid (8th grade HMS) and Luke (5th grade GES) are active in sports in the area. So, our weekends are often filled cheering them on. Also, as a family, we enjoy bike rides, going to the park or movies, playing board games, and participating in Cub & Boy Scouts. Bill is the Cubmaster of Pack 817 which meets here at GES.
I believe in the excellence of Grapevine Elementary and take my role seriously in keeping GES a special place. I am proud to belong here as a parent, teacher, and PTA member. It is my belief, too, that each child is unique in his/her interests, abilities, and learning styles. With earnest effort, I will strive to meet your child’s needs. I am looking forward to partnering with you in this year’s educational journey.
If you ever have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I am happy to conference with you; please call or send an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please share any helpful information with me about your child and/or family. I am very excited to work with your family this year.
