I graduated from Iowa State University in the summer of 1998 with my Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education. I have been blessed to work here at Glenhope for the last 19 years with great children, parents and co-workers. I teach all 3 rotations/classes of science in 4th grade and writing to my homeroom students. I love the energy and excitement I see from the students as they learn and work on experiments each day.
Science Communication- Students will be using a variety of resources and activities to aid them in their learning journey. There are going to be three main resources to help organization and communication between students, parents, and teachers.
First is the student’s notebook, which will contain an outline of each learning objective, skills needed, and critical vocabulary for that topic. It will also be used to write reflections of class learning.
The second resource will be Stemscopes (http://bit.ly/1JaXSM7). Stemscopes is our districts online resource, which contains: vocabulary, songs, interactive lessons, connections to writing/reading/math content, and the site also has many quick assessments to check for understanding.
The last resource is Google Drive/Google Classroom. This resource is where all of the students’ online work will be stored, shared, and worked on. Google classroom is where I will have them turn in online work to me, so that I can give them feedback on assignments. The science note book, Stemscopes, and Google Drive/Google Classroom will be great tools for us to learn, and communicate about all the wonderful things going on with your child.
