• Community Home Services
  • Overview
Community Home Services is a related service designed to help students generalize social, communication and behavioral skills from home to school, school to home and across all settings.  Community Home Services is a ARD'd service that is based on assessment of the individual needs of the student.  Community Home Services are provided after school hours in the home or community environment as specified in the ARD.
Community Home Services consists of 3 Phases
Phase 1 - Direct In Home Training, Direct Parent Training - The Community Home Specialist works with the student or parent at home or community setting. Our focus is on Social, Communication and Behavioral skills.  We model strategies for the parent/family who is then expected to implement what they learn.
Phase 2 - Parent Consult - The parent implements learned strategies with guidance from the Community Home Specialist.  The parent is provided access to the GCISD Autism Library located in the Professional Development Center.  Parent may contact the Community Home Specialist via email, phone, or in person for supports such as visuals, social stories, new concerns, notification of community resources, etc.
Phase 3 - Viable Alternatives - The student is invited to monthly social opportunities in the community to participate in fun, social experiences with peers and high school PAL volunteers.
