    • Read at home.
    • Read wherever you are. Look around – read things like posters, billboards, signs.
    • Make it fun – pick out books purely for pleasure reading.

Did you know? The best predictor of reading achievement is the amount of time students spend in independent reading! Reading 20 minutes a day = 1.8 million words a year = 1000 new vocabulary words! So... Pledge to TAKE 20! Reading 20 minutes a day can make a big difference!

Mrs. Ervin's fifth graders should be reading at least 20 minutes every night. I encourage students to read a variety of genres and I'm asking that they read as many Texas Bluebonnet Award books as they can this year! Students need to access their accounts on Biblionasium everyday to log their reading, review their books, and set reading goals! Students can also access e-books from our very own online library, MACKINVIA! Additionally, Students' reading comprehension will be assessed and monitored using iStation and Moby Max.

    Happy Reading!
