2012 Distinguished Friend
The Grapevine-Colleyville Education Foundation has selected Mary Alice Rippe as the 2012 Distinguished Friend Award recipient. The Distinguished Friend Award is bestowed upon an individual who has demonstrated a commitment to the mission and vision of the Foundation. Rippe was recognized at the Foundation’s “Celebrating Our Stars” Academic Recognition Banquet on May 24, 2012 at the Embassy Suites Outdoor World in Grapevine.

Mary Alice Rippe has worked tirelessly to enhance the quality of public education through her ten years of service to the GCISD Education Foundation. She has served as a part-time administrative assistant and full-time volunteer bookkeeper, chaired and served on almost every committee, and served as a director for three years, the past two as the Treasurer. As a mother of four GCISD graduates, she has also shared her knowledge and experience by serving on a multitude of GCISD and community efforts, as well as leadership roles for all of her children's school PTAs, booster clubs, Project Graduation, Friends of the Colleyville Public Library, and many more.
"I'm truly honored to receive the Distinguished Friend award, but more grateful to be part of an organization that, not only provides funds for worthwhile projects, but encourages creativity, ingenuity and collaboration in the GCISD," Rippe said. "The Foundation's grants are investments in our community and encourage academic success for all students. I hope all GCISD families and businesses will continue to support the mission of the Education Foundation."
“Mary Alice has a deep commitment to education and a big heart for students and educators which come from her family background and experiences," said Foundation Executive Director Janice Kane. "She possesses the attributes of a dedicated and trusted leader. She wants what's best for our children and demonstrates her commitment through all of the aspects of our school district. She is a champion for children and a Distinguished Friend for education, and most deserving of this honor!"
