• State-Based Pre-Kindergarten Program
    GCISD Offers a half day State-Based Pre-Kindergarten program at the following campuses: Timberline Elementary, Silver Lake Elementary and Bear Creek Elementary.

    There are 2 half-day sessions with the following schedule: The morning session from 7:40-11:15 am and the afternoon session from 11:15-2:55 pm.

    Students are placed in the morning or afternoon sessions based on availability. Registration is on-going throughout the year. For registration, please contact the Language Assessment Center at 817-251-5231.

    To be eligible for the half-day district Pre-Kindergarten Program, a child must be 4 years old on or before Sept. 1 of the upcoming school year. The child is eligible for enrollment in the Pre-K program if he/she meets any of the following criteria:
    • be unable to speak and comprehend the English Language; or
    • be educationally disadvantaged (eligible to participate in the National School Lunch Program); or
    • be homeless; or
    • be the child of an active duty member of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military forces or a reserved component of the armed forces, whose ordered to active duty by proper authority; or
    • have ever been in the conservatorship of Child Protective Services (foster care) following an adversary hearing.

      Language Assessment Center

      Any student who has a language other than English listed on his/her Home Language Survey should visit the Language Assessment Center for registration assistance.

    Programa Estatal de Pre-Kindergarten


    Para ser elegible para el programa de medio día estatal de Prekindergarten en el distrito escolar, el niño/a debe tener los 4 años cumplidos para el 1 de septiembre del año escolar al que asistirá. El niño/a es elegible para inscribirse en el programa si cumple cualquiera de los siguientes requisitos:


    • El estudiante es incapáz de hablar y comprender el idioma inglés (se debe completar el Cuestionario de Idioma Hogareño (Home Language Survey),  o
    • El estudiante no tiene hogar, como es definido por (42 U.S.C. &11302), o
    • El estudiante tiene una desventaja económica (vea la lista para los documentos requeridos), o
    • El estudiante es dependiente del personal militar, o
    • El estudiante está bajo la custodia (foster care) del Departamento de Servicios Familiares y de Protección (por sus siglas en inglés: DFPS, Department of Family and Protective Services) a raíz de una audiencia adversa.
