My name is Amanda Hernandez and I am the CES Counselor!
This will be my second year in GCISD and my fifth year in education. Prior to becoming a school counselor I taught Pre-K and Kindergarten. I received my undergraduate degree from Texas Tech University and my graduate degree from Dallas Baptist University.
I have been married to my husband, Adam, for 4 years and we have one spoiled yellow lab named Queso.
Adam works for Southwest Airlines and our favoite thing to do is travel together.
I also love to read, sing, paint and drink Starbucks!
My goal as the school counselor is to provide a safe, stable and nurturing environment for students to learn and grow. I do this by providing guidance lessons once per month to each grade level on specific character traits such as kindness, problem-solving and self-esteem. I also provide small groups and individual counseling to students who may need additional social-emotional support
in order to be successful in the classroom.
I am also here to support you as parents and am always available to answer any questions or concerns you may have regarding your student. We must work as a team to give these children the care and support they need and deserve!
