• Practicum in Agriculture (Vet Med 2)
     
    This course is a continuation of the Veterinary Medical Applications course providing further training in the veterinary assistant field through work-based training. Students must meet prerequisite course requirements, be in the 12th grade and have their own transportation to be enrolled in this course. 
     
    Certified Veterinary Assistant Level 1 Certification: 
    This course includes clinical experience/job shadowing designed to help students meet the 300 hours of hands-on experience required to test for their Certified Veterinary Assistant (CVA) Level 1 certification. During the spring semester students will apply and test for their CVA Level 1 certification. This is an industry recognized certification offered through the Texas Veterinary Medical Associations. To be eligible to test for the CVA Level 1 certification students must complete 200 hours (Vet Med 1) of course instruction and 300+ hours of hands-on training (Vet Med 2 internship). The student's supervising veterinary clinic must sign off on the Certified Veterinary Assistant Level 1 Skills Validation Checklist prior to the student applying to take the CVA Level 1 test.
