    Welcome to Mrs. Vasquez’s Class

Educational background- I have been teaching for 34 years and the past 17 have been in the GCISD as a Literacy Specialist.  I have taught every grades 1-9 and even 11th.  I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Education Southwest Texas State University (now, Texas State), a Masters of Education with a Reading emphasis from West Texas A&M University and a Mid Management Certification from The University of Texas at Arlington.  My goal is to guide learners to see their true gifts. I will also help them unlock the English language.

A little about me- I am married and we have one daughter, Lauren. We spend most of our free time with extended family and hanging out with friends. We enjoy attending all types of sporting events.  We are big UNT fans attend and tailgate at all home football games. When I get some time to myself, I enjoy DIY projects,  getting lost looking at pinterest, and cooking/baking.  We enjoy traveling the world.

Our class- All  methods used in our room are research-based. We use a multi-sensory approach to learning.  Some of the components of our class include: manipulation of sounds, blending and unblending of words,  word recognition, fluency and comprehension. Our class is mostly direct instruction  and is very structured in pace. Any homework given will only be review of what was done in class.
