Mustang-Panther Stadium: The New Experience
When Mustang-Panther Stadium opens in Fall 2018 for football season, fans, students, and community members will have a new game day experience as part of a stadium renovation.
The work will be completed over the next two years using funds the district received through a $26 million Tax Increment Financing (TIF) payout resulting from the 1996 TIF agreement with the City of Grapevine to bring Grapevine Mills Mall to the area.
“As a district, we are always looking for ways to continue to be fiscally responsible, whether through our annual budget, debt management or short and long term investments,” said DaiAnn Mooney, GCISD Chief Financial Officer. “Thanks to the foresight of previous district leaders, we are now able to benefit from these funds, while we continue to operate under a flawed public education funding system.”
Approved by the GCISD Board of Trustees, and the Grapevine City Council, the funds will be used by the district on renovations to Mustang-Panther Stadium, joint-use educational facilities and the joint fiber project with the City of Grapevine.
During the varsity football game between Grapevine High School and Colleyville Heritage High School on October 21, the district unveiled an initial rendering of the stadium, as well as some photos of what fans can expect from the new Mustang-Panther Stadium. In an effort to provide the community with the same information that was presented to three focus groups, the district will hold three community presentations. During these one hour meetings, community members may come to learn more about the TIF, plans for renovations and additional information about Mustang-Panther Stadium. Those meeting dates are as follows:
- Tuesday, October 25 from 6 - 7 p.m.
- Friday, October 28 from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m.
- Tuesday, November 1 from 6 - 7 p.m.
These meetings will have limited space available. To sign up for one of the designated meetings, please click this sign up link.
