Substitutes

  • APPLY TO BE A SUB!

Our employees are the most important resource for providing a quality educational program for the students of this community. Recognizing this is the goal of the Human Resources department to accomplish the following:

    • to recruit and select highly qualified candidates available for each vacancy in the District
    • to allocate the District's personnel in a manner that will have the greatest positive impact on the instructional program
    • to promote a climate in which optimum staff performance and job satisfaction are achieved

Welcome to GCISD, and thank you for your interest in becoming a substitute for our district! To apply for the position, click the link on our "Apply to Be a Sub" button above or go to the Employment page to complete the application.

In order to qualify to substitute for a teacher in GCISD, you must have 60 or more completed college hours. Substitute Aides do not have to meet this requirement.

We also require that at least two of your (professional) references have responded favorably to the auto generated email which they will receive once you submit your application.

Once submitted, your application will be reviewed.  Candidates meeting requirements will be contacted via e-mail with an invitation to attend a brief interview with a member of the HR team.

Following the interview, if a determination is made to move forward, you will be contacted (via e-mail) with orientation dates and instructions regarding the fingerprinting process which is a requirement for all public school employees. This is done through the Texas Education Agency. There is a fee for fingerprinting which is the responsibility of the applicant.  If you have already been fingerprinted, we will be notified by TEA that your prints are complete.

Only those applicants meeting the criteria and fitting the profile for substitute teachers will be contacted for an interview.

Thank you again for your interest in GCISD!
