This will be my twenty-first year in public education. The first three years of teaching were in the Lewisville Independent School District in Public Preschool for Early Childhood Development. The next 18 years have been with Grapevine Independent School District at Heritage Elementary School and Cross Timbers Middle School. This year I have the privilege to teach at Grapevine Elementary with an exceptional group of educators. administrators, and office staff.
I grew up in West Texas, graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in Home Economics and specialty in Early Childhood. My certifications are in Special Education Birth through 21 years, Early Childhood, Elementary Education, 4-8, and English Language Learning. I attended the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and Tarlton State where graduate work was completed in Curriculum and Instruction and Reading Specialist.
My family consists of two grown children who attended schools in Grapevine and graduated from Grapevine High School. My granddaughter attended Grapevine Elementary School and is currently attending Heritage Middle School. I also have a grandson who is two years old. As a widow looking back, I can say that my husband encouraged me to continue to be a life-long learner throughout my teaching career.
It is my belief that every student can learn if given the opportunity and encouragement. One of the best parts of my job is collaborating with a team of professionals who have the students' best interests at heart. It is exciting to see a plan come together for a student and watch him or her succeed. The next best opportunity is to be able to work with the students and their families.
