Kim Thibodeaux

Learning Commons Staff

  • Meet the CHHS Librarian, Ms. Thibodeaux

Hello! I am so excited to be the new face in the CHHS Learning Commons! I come to you with 15 years of experience in secondary education, teaching ELA in every grade level and students of a variety of academic levels. Most recently I have been teaching AP Literature & Composition at Coppell High School & served as the sponsor of Junior World Affairs Council. I hold a B.A. in English-Literature, an M.A. in English with a focus on YA & Children's Literature & Film Studies, and an M.S. in Library Sciences / Educational Technology, all from Texas A&M-University - Commerce. Education and making a difference in young people's lives is my passion and calling in life, and I believe that educators have the most important "job" in the world. My main goals as a classroom teacher were to help students THINK CRITICALLY, to grapple with the themes and literary elements found in literature to help them better understand the world around them, themselves, and others. My overarching question for the year for them was always, What can we learn from art forms about ourselves and others in order to be our most authentic and best possible selves? I would like to continue helping students seek that with my work as the librarian at Colleyville Heritage High School. I am passionate about getting kids to READ, even if that is a graphic novel, poetry, non-ficiton, or YA literature. I believe we have to work together to make reading and informing ourselves COOL again and utilize techniques to sift through the fake to get to the truths that exist, especially in today's technologically driven world. I have a 3 year old son and am a single mom, 2 dogs named Royse & Ella, and enjoy reading, research, listening to Podcasts, watching TV & movies, listening to music, and collaborating with others
