As we all watch the tragedy of Hurricane Harvey grow, AVID wanted to reach out to see if we could get involved in collecting donations to be taken to shelters this week. Dallas is expecting 5,000+ people to this week seeking refuge.
Dallas County Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster
Those looking to donate resources, Dallas County Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) member Trusted World will be taking donations. Clothing in good condition, toiletries and hygiene products, and non-perishable foods will be accepted. The Trusted World drop off location will be 15660 N. Dallas Parkway. The donations center will be open daily3 – 8 p.m., until further notice.

- baby formula and baby wipes, bottles, diapers
- Graco Pack n’ Plays for babies to sleep in
SPCA of Texas is expecting 300 cats and dogs to come to North Texas. The agendy is asking for donations of cat litter, litter boxes, towels, blankets, treats, toys and newspaper. Donations can be dropped off at the following two locations: SPCA of Texas Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center at 2400 Lone Star Drive in Dallas and the SPCA of Texas at 8411 Stacy Road in McKinney.There is a box in the front office labeled "CHHS AVID Hurricane Harvey". Please drop your donations there. The boxes will be picked up/emptied this Friday and next Friday.Thank you,CHHS AVID TEAM
