• You may have heard about the new program that has been introduced at Glenhope Elementary. It is called Watch D.O.G.S (Dads of Great Students). The idea is simple. Get dads and father figures on campus to increase their exposure to our school and provide more fatherly support to our students.

If interested, you must submit a background check, submit an information sheet, and select an available date from the calendar all of which are online. You do not have to be in Dad's Club to participate. If you are and would like to purchase their blue polo with a logo, it may be purchased in the PE office from Michael Maupin. You may wear any blue polo for the day of your visit.

On your selected day you will open car doors and greet students, your child will introduce you to the school on the morning announcements, and have a picture of you and your child taken to be posted on the Watch D.O.G.S. wall in the front hallway. Your day will then consist of rotating through classrooms engaging with students in whatever activity they are doing at the time. You are not expected to teach lessons but you may help in small groups, read a book to the class, or join in group stations. You will be scheduled for one hour in your child's class, eat lunch with them, and go to their recess. If you have more than one child, you may dedicate one day to each child or split time between classes.

You will have a better understanding of how your child's school day functions and be able to engage them in more meaningful conversation about their day when you have seen it first hand.

If you have questions, you may email michael.maupin@gcisd.net. If you are ready to sign up, follow this LINK. Thank you for supporting your children and Glenhope Elementary.
