It’s A Wonderful Life…

My Job…It is amazing!  Theatre has been my passion so when I graduated from Southeastern State University in Durant, Oklahoma I began what is now a 34 year teaching career.  Along the way I picked up my Master's degree from East Central State University in Ada, Oklahoma and an Administrator's Certification which allowed me to serve for 3 years as a principal for an at risk student educational program called Take Two.

Five years ago, Grapevine High School called my name, and moving to Grapevine, Texas with my Son has truly been a blessing!  The students are talented and enthusiastic, the facility is top notch, and the faculty and administration are supportive, cooperative, and genuinely interested in the work I do with the kids and the kind of program that we can develop together!  We are excited about our upcoming production schedule for the  2012 -2013 school year.  We will begin the season October 25,26& 27  with the FAMILY FRIENDLY must see production entitled       Disney's Little Mermaid Jr.   based on the hit Broadway production of Disney's Little Mermaid . Then we will rehearse the dark classic tale for mature audiences of political satire and splashy  Broadway award winning production of the dance filled "Chicago"  as our Betty Lynn  Buckley Competitive musical entry.  This production will be go up January  24, 25, 26  &  February  1 & 2 for our mature teen ager and adult audiences.

Both of these productions are a huge undertaking, a real challenge for the kids and will certainly test my talents and skills. Thank goodness for talented best friends and professional vocal coach like Byron Holder who could coach a bug to sing and a terrifically talented  Assistant Theatre  Director, Emily Nalepa who joins us with 6 years of experience in award winning UIL One Act Competitions and Musical Theatre Direction.

We will rehearse our productions  Monday through Friday 4:10 pm - 6:30 pm ( picking up an additional hour during the final 2 weeks of production.),  build set and costumes on Saturday Mornings 10 am - 3pm  and then run choreography clinics on Saturday as well.   We have also planned a  Senior Showcase comprised of Senior directed plays (DATES TBA CHECK BACK HERE) and the Spring show classic               The Miracle Worker which will play the first weekend in May as our grand finale to the year.

We meet every day and kids come to my office throughout the day to share their daily commentaries, talents, and affection.  How lovely to be loved and appreciated by those I work so closely with and admire. Join us for a great year "on the boards" at Grapevine High School.
