New Arrival Center  (NAC I)

Prerequisite: ESL Identification

New Arrival Center (NAC I) is an elective course designed to help non-native speakers transition into the English speaking environment as rapidly as possible, to support English language learning, to improve the functional English skills of students who have been identified as ESL and to provide support in the content areas. Students will be trained in real life applications of the English language. Emphasis will be placed on core content area vocabulary. Support tutorials will be provided for current units of study in content areas.

ATTENDANCE
Students are to attend class, positively participate in class and complete ALL assignments. Grapevine-Colleyville ISD and Grapevine High School attendance and tardy policies will be followed.

SUPPLIES
1 spiral notebook, notebook paper, black or blue pens, Kleenex box

GRADING POLICY
Test scores count 60% of the grade and Daily Work (homework, class work and quizzes) count 40% of the grade.

LATE WORK POLICY
Late work will not receive full credit. Ten points will be deducted for each day late.

CLASS RULES AND EXPECTATIONS
Be prepared! ALWAYS bring paper and pen to class.
Be on time! Be in the classroom with needed materials before the tardy bell rings.
 
Have a positive attitude! Extra Effort is the key to success! Nothing great or meaningful was ever accomplished without enthusiasm.Show respect for others. Have respect for other people (students, teachers, substitute teachers) yourself, and for other's property.
