Welcome!
I am excited to be entering my fifth year as an educator and am even more eager to be continuing my career as a member of the fantastic Colleyville Heritage High School faculty. I am looking forward to a wonderful year of teaching English III and English IV and to working with you and your student in the weeks and months to come.
A little bit about me...
While I now call the DFW area home, I was born in raised in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. If you've ever been lucky enough to visit the Northeast, you may very well know that though one can take the Yankee out of New England, one can never take the "wicked awesome" spirit of New England out of the Yankee! I love the rustic beauty of New Hampshire and adore the pristine beaches of the Massachusetts coast. My most prominent northern trait (other than the occasional dropped "r") is my avid support of all Boston sports teams, especially the New England Patriots. Still, while I will forever be nostalgic for the vibrant foliage of a New England autumn, I definitely do not miss the icy cold winters that football season brings!
In the years since moving to Dallas, I have not only acclimated to the weather, but also to the culture. There's nothing quite like authentic Tex-Mex or a down-to-the-wire game under those famous Friday night lights! Texas is a unique and diverse state, and I have made many wonderful memories in my time here.
While majoring in English Language Arts and completing a minor in secondary education at the University of North Texas in Denton, I learned as much about that legendary Texan courage and character as I did about rhetoric and reading. I also made sure to get a pair of authentic cowboy boots and even said "ya'll" once or twice!
After finishing my undergraduate studies at UNT in May of 2008, I moved closer to the metroplex and began my teaching career in the Dallas Independent School District. I spent two immensely valuable years teaching English I, English II Pre-AP, and English III with the seasoned staff at W.T. White High School before joining the CHHS faculty in 2010 as an English II and English III teacher.
