Student Council |
The Colleyville Elementary Student Council provides opportunities for students to accept responsibilities and experience applied learning in real life situations. One boy and one girl is elected by student vote from each third, fourth, and fifth grade classroom. During the fall semester, students in grades three through five who desire to participate in Student Council are asked to "campaign" for the office. They must present a campaign speech to their classmates and prepare one campaign poster. This process takes approximately two weeks. At the conclusion of the campaign process, ballots are made for each classroom, as well as voting cards for each student. The classes come to a "voting booth" and vote for their choice. Winners are announced at the conclusion of the day. Upon their election, the two representatives, along with their teacher and parents, decide which student will represent their class in the fall and spring. Meetings are held once a month after school. |
