Timberline Elementary School in Grapevine has received $522 in grant money from Keep Grapevine Beautiful (KGB). The check was presented to the Timberline Garden Club's parent coordinator Pippa Robe (front right) by KGB representative Marion Brekken and Grapevine Parks and Recreation Department's Mary Jo Tellin. The funds will be used to continue the Junior Master Gardener Program to purchase leader guides and student workbooks.
Students participating in the school's garden club are currently going through the certification process to become Junior Master Gardeners. Certified Master Gardener Shari Stanfield (pictured to right of Mrs. Robe), holds classes for the students, helping them to complete the required dozen science segments dealing with the environment, plant life and soils. The students are also working on certifying the Outdoor Classroom as an official wildlife habitat. The club meets every other Monday after school.
