GHS Theatre Department and cast of Beauty and The Beast are terribly excited about our 6 nominations for the Betty Lynn Buckley Awards Ceremony, held at Casa Manana this May 21st. This award process is a fabulous opportunity for students to become aware of other programs successes and as competition will often do, pushes our kids to do their very best each time they step onto that stage. We recieved the following awards:
Best Costuming Design: Gabby Sewing, Emily Sidler, Emily Smith Best Lighting Design: Joe Taylor and Ryan Savage Best Set Design: Nic Belanger and Dillon Reynolds Best Orchestra: Conductors JJ Pippitone and Byron Holder Best Supporitng Actor: Cameron Mumford ( Le Fou) Best Supporting Actress: Sarah Baston (Chip)
Our Cast met on Tuesday after school in our Auditorium to start a new tradition, a power point depicting- A Musical production Celebration of memories and A grand Reveal of possible nominations for the Betty Lynn Buckley Awards. We were thrilled last year after producing Into the Woods to have recieved 8 nominations and to have won 6 including the coveted award of Best Musical. This year is no exception to our elation, as I reminded my cast and crew - your performance was Cake complete with fabulous icing and the Buckley's is whipped topping with sprinkles!! I was so very proud of our students rising to meet the challege of Disney's Beauty and the Beast, all 84 members of the cast and crew worked long hours and pushed their dedication to the limits to produce this show. I could not be more proud of a group of directors, actors, musicians, dancers, and technicians who gave me their hearts and talents each rehearsal and performance. It is a thrill to work with such wonderful students, parents, and faculty members, their support is simply amazing. As my principal so often reminds me, "Its not like this everywhere" and he is right! Gold Stars and Sprinkles to my cast and crew as we look forward to an unforgetable night at Casa Manana!
