Welcome to the Colleyville Heritage High School website. Colleyville Heritage High School, a National Blue Ribbon school, prides itself on being a Community of Excellence. In this comprehensive and competitive 5A high school, we believe in:
• Cultivating Relationships with Dignity, Care and Respect
• Highly Effective Instruction
• Honest, Open and Responsive Communication
• Success for Each Student
Colleyville Heritage High School opened in 1996 with an enrollment of approximately 1200 students, grades 9 – 12. Since then, we have grown to a student body of over 2300 students of diverse backgrounds and experiences unified by our Panther Pride!
At CHHS, we instill the importance of building positive relationships within our student body and with our staff. We utilize the Flip Flippen Capturing Kids’ Hearts philosophies of reaching our students head through their heart in the continuous cultivation of these positive relationships. Our Communications Applications classes utlize these philosophies to help students focus on developing positive inter-relational and strong communication skills. In addition, our counselors work with students in small groups and encourage peer mediation and other problem solving options. You will find our Grateful Dads on Friday mornings and our teachers daily greeting students on their way to the classrooms as well as attending extra-curricular activities that help promote Panther Pride!
CHHS has the proud distinction of being recognized on a repeated basis by Newsweek magazine as one of the nation’s top high schools based on students enrolled in Advanced Placement courses and success in meeting graduation requirements. We offer over 20 AP courses for students beginning as early as their freshmen year. In addition, we offer dual enrollment courses in conjunction with Tarrant County Community College and work programs through our Career and Technology Education classes. The staff of CHHS works collaboratively to ensure that teachers have access to a viable curriculum that is assessed on a formative basis for the success of all students. Our professional learning includes early release days for our staff to meet in their content teams as well as embedded Professional Learning Community time. We utilize focus groups to meet the needs of our staff in their continued growth as educators as well as wikis, blogs, and book studies. Continuous learning is the norm at CHHS!
Communication is an important tool in the success of CHHS. Parents and students have access to grades online and every teacher has a working website. We encourage parents to contact their child’s teacher either through email (email@example.com) or by phone if they have questions about their child's progress or work. We expect teachers to return contact within 24 hours unless there is an emergency that would prevent that contact. In addition, the CHHS PTSA sponsors principal coffees and various other parent meetings to help keep our parents and community informed about current trends and events.
Lastly, CHHS works toward success for every student. Every teacher provides tutorials before and after school. CHHS also provides tutorials during our 50 minute lunches in a learning center environment. We secure tutors for pull-out programs for our students who struggle with TAKS as well as providing shelter classes for upperclassmen who need to pass TAKS in order to graduate. Our counseling department sponsors many opportunities for students to experience success as well, such as FGSO, Workshop Wednesdays and groups. Through our First Generation Student Organization (FGSO), students who are the first in their family to pursue post-secondary education have access to group college visits, application and career advice, and academic supports. Our Academic Support Committees (ASC) meet on a regular vasis throughout the year to evaluate and recommend supports for students who are struggling academically.
We hope you find our website helpful in navigating through the unbelievable opportunities at CHHS. Our heartfelt thanks go to our PTSA, parent groups and booster clubs for their informational links to our websites. Without their support, CHHS would not be the outstanding school we are proud to call home. Please feel free to contact me or our webmaster if there are areas that you believe we could improve in order to provide the CHHS Community of Excellence.
