Top teachers, paraprofessionals named at each campus

Teachers and paraprofessionals of the year for 2008- 2009 have been selected at each campus and will be honored at the Employee Appreciation Reception on May 8, 4-6 p.m., at the Grapevine Convention Center.

Two District teachers of the year will be selected from this group and announced at the reception. Those two teachers, one elementary and one secondary, then will advance to the regional level, with an opportunity to continue on to the Texas Teacher of the Year competition. From the campus paraprofessionals of the year, one will be selected to receive the Carolyn Frank Award to be announced at the GCISD reception in May. These outstanding employees have been selected for a wide variety of positive traits and actions but ALL stand out at their campuses as people who continuously put students first.

Attorney General warns of tax rebate scam

Beware of scam artists who are contacting people, indicating that they are due a rebate and asking for personal information such as social security or bank account numbers.

Do you really want to share everything?

Before you launch out on to Facebook or Flickr, you should ask yourself how much you really want to share with the rest of the world, advised Good Experience newsletter author and founder Mark Hurst (www.goodexperience.com). Do you want to share all of your photos with the world on Flickr? Do you want others to know your personal preferences, friends and your background?

While many Web 2.0 venues allow for valuable networking, in which many people want to participate, it's good to take a deep breath before you share. Is what you are posting or uploading something you want anyone and everyone to have or see?
